This cake was certainly no Hiccup

Just WOW! Have you ever seen anything so detailed? I can honestly not believe it’s a cake. Created by Emma, from the Manchester bakery; Richard’s Cakes, she has designed and made an impressive How to Train Your Dragon cake, based on the 2010 Dreamworks movie, for a local cake competition – obviously coming first place. I feel sorry for those who came up against her masterpiece.

The cake is made up of three tiers of sponge, and is scattered with all the main characters of the movie, with a whole load of its hilarious dragons. The characters include Hiccup, his father Stoik, Astrid, Fishlegs, Snotlout, Gobber, and twins; Ruffnut and Tuffnut. There are at least five dragons circling the cake, Toothless taking centre stage crowning the top tier. All are edible, created from fondant.

She must have taken a huge amount of time on this because her attention to detail is incredible.. Freckles splatter Hiccups face, tiny skulls decorate Astrid’s armour, Stoik’s beard plaited to perfection. I dread to think how many times she watched and re-watched the film. Even the background and landscape is stunning – airbrushed to get the perfect grassy look, it’s covered with realistic looking rocks, Ivy and roses. I’m personally most impressed by the little building. Decorated with hundreds of tiles, and made up of small planks of wood that look like they were made of real oak, it’s one of my favourite things on the cake.

Check out more photos of the cake, on their facebook page, along with some other amazing creations.
