VERDICT

With so many new comic series starting this week, I’m having a hard time choosing which one’s I want to get. There’s an obvious Guardians of the Galaxy theme going on, with three new titles available, and Guardians of the Galaxy: Galaxy’s Most Wanted jumps out at me, but I’m more excited about Skottie Young’s Rocket Raccoon. Let’s face it; Rocket is definitely the most interesting Guardian, and Young is an amazing writer AND artist – the Eisner Award for his Wonderful Wizard of Oz series will agree.

Duane Swierczynski’s Deadpool vs X-Force is also taking my fancy. Swierczynski has written Judge Dredd since 2012, along with Godzilla, Birds of Prey, and a Deadpool miniseries; Wade Wilson’s War – so he’s no stranger to powerful characters. If anybody’s going to be able to portray both Cable AND Deadpool successfully, it’s him.

I’m also tempted to try Grayson. Artist Mikel Janin has drawn for Justice League and Nightwing before, so his portrayal of Dick Grayson already appeals to me, and I’m loving the idea of a superhero turned superspy.
