I think I’ve pretty much seen all of my favourite fandoms in Lego form at some point in my life; Doctor Who, Marvel, Batman, Minecraft.. the list goes on. But the one franchise I’ve yet to build – Pokemon. To be fair, creating over 600 Pokemon minifigs would be quite a task, but surely they’d love the challenge?
Savath Bunny seems to think so. She has created a Lego version of the iconic Pokemon Centre, equipped with a fully stocked store, changing room, and healing station. The set comes with lego minifig versions of Ash, Misty, Brock, Nurse Joy, and Professor Oak, as well as the Pokemon characters; Pikachu, Squirtle, Charmander, Bulbasaur, and Eevee.
It’s a very well thought out design, and there is so much attention to detail that it would make any Pokemon fan weak at the knees. Lots of people seem to agree, as the project reached about 1378 supporters on Lego Cuusoo (the Lego Ideas website for fans). Unfortunately, the set has been archived, and people can no longer vote for it.
Lego released an explanation for the dismissal of the project, stating that Pokemon is owned by a competitor of Lego, so isn’t a suitable brand for them to licence. It’s sad knowing that a Pokemon set was so close to being made, and yet will never be in our grasps, but you can still check out all of the amazing concept photos here.
