Join the Night’s Watch

The Game of Throne’s season 7 premiere is still two months away – excruciating isn’t it? On the plus side, that gives you plenty of time to re-watch last season – whilst sobbing as you mumble ‘Hold the Door’ at the television screen.

It also gives you time to apply for a ticket to Sky’s pop-up training camp later this month, where you will be able to watch demonstrations from the stunt team behind Game of Thrones, and become a true member of the Nights Watch.

You will learn skills like archery, sword fighting, and even raven handling – very handy if you ever find yourself in need of a maester.

The event will be held at the Tower of London, on 20th May. You can apply for a balloted ticket, as long as you swear to take no wife, hold no lands, father no children, wear no crowns, win no glory, and live and die at your post.

Just kidding.

You just need to click on this link, and unofficially join the Night’s Watch. You could even be in with a chance of winning a pair of tickets to attend the US premiere of Season 7.

Good luck guys!

The Defenders Trailer Is Finally Here

Netflix have just released the first trailer for their latest venture into the world of Marvel comic book characters. Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist finally meet in this 2 and a half minute trailer for The Defenders, and everything is falling into place.

We also get an idea about who else will be popping up in the new series. It looks like Simone Missick is back as feisty cop Misty Knight, and Rosario Dawson returns as the faithful Claire Temple. Stick is back too, along with Elektra – who we last saw in quite a bad state at the end of Daredevil Season 2.

Most exciting of all though is the appearance of Sigourney Weaver, who will be playing main villain; Alexandra. According to The Defenders writer and producer – Marco Ramirez – Alexandra is a powerful force in New York; sophisticated, intellectual and dangerous. She doesn’t seem to have any comic book history so her role is a bit up in the air right now, but it’s rumoured she’ll play some sort of Kingpin.

The Defenders will be released on Netflix on the 18th August.

Take a Walk in The Forbidden Forest

Warner Bro’s Harry Potter Studio Tour opened the doors to it’s newest expansion last Friday, and have released a sneak peak for those who haven’t got tickets yet – or those who stupidly went a few weeks before the opening like I did *face palm*

The Forbidden Forest attraction will feature 12 foot trees and an abundance of magical creatures from the Harry Potter movies, including Aragog the Acromentula, and Buckbeak the Hipogriff. You will be welcomed through the Hogwarts gates by Hagrid – lantern in hand, and get the opportunity to weave under gnarled roots and braches.

Learn about the mechanics behind the Whomping Willow, how long it took to add each feather to buckbeacks body, and how long Aragog’s legs really are. Oh, and if you’re scared of spiders like Ron, don’t worry – there is a spider free route you can take. But you’re a wizard right – just blast them with the Lumos spell and run.

Are you excited to enter the Forbidden Forest? If you’ve already been, I’d love to hear what you thought. If you haven’t, you can buy tickets here.

Invader Zim Returns With New TV Movie

It’s been over 10 years since Invader Zim’s short run on Nickelodeon came to an end. Since then it’s become quite the cult classic, so I’m not surprised to hear that they are bringing him back – even if it is just for 90 minute run on TV.

For those of you who have never seen Invader Zim, and who I can only presume had the worst possible childhood, I’ll give you a quick summary of the original series..

Zim, an alien from the Irken Empire, is given a mission to collect intelligence from Earth with the help of GIR – an information retrieval unit / robotic dog. He spends most of his time making plans of world domination, whilst attempting to avoid rousing the suspicion of Dib, a classmate at the school he infiltrated, who is on to him.

According to Nickelodeon, Richard Horvitz will return as Zim, with Rikki Simmons voicing GIR and Andy Berman voicing Dib. It’s also been confirmed that Melissa Fahn will return as Gaz – Dib’s cynical sister. Oh, and don’t forget series creator Jhonen Vasquez, who is on board as well.

The feature film currently has no release date, but a teaser has already been released so we are guessing ‘soon-ish’- though don’t expect anything until after the proposed Hey Arnold movie has hit the small screen. Yes, you heard me, Hey Arnold is apparently coming back as well. Is anyone else experiencing a slight nostalgic heart attack right now?

What do you think of Invader Zim’s return? Are you a fan of the show? What are you expecting from the TV movie

“People of Earth, did you really think you’d seen the last of me? Don’t you know an invader never stops until their mission is complete. I’ve been watching you, waiting, and soon your world will be mine.”

A History of Magic Exhibition at The British Library

The British Library have announced that they will be holding an Harry Potter exhibition between October 2017 and February 2018, and you can buy tickets online NOW. The event will mark the 20th Anniversary of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, giving fans the opportunity to look closer at the magic behind J.K. Rowlings’ books.

20 years? Damn I feel old.

The exhibition will showcase material from Rowlings personal archives, such as original drafts, and drawings by Jim Kay. There will also be a selection of rare books and manuscripts from Bloomsbury.

If you’ve ever wanted to learn more about the magical creatures in the Harry Potter stories, or take a lesson in Potions or Divination, make sure you book a ticket here. You’ll also get the chance to look at the 16th Century Ripley Scroll that explains how to create a Philosopher’s Stone. I will definitely be taking notes.

Tickets cost £16 for adults and £8 for children – you must buy them in advance on their website. Get purchasing Potterheads!

American Gods Character Posters

The American Gods premiere date is inching ever closer, with a mere month to go until we get to see Bryan Fullers adaption of Neil Gaiman’s bestselling novel – WAH.. so much excitement!

To tide us over, the kind people of Starz have released a series of character posters – and they are stunning. Seriously.

The colourful posters depict 10 of the main characters from the show, including front runners Shadow Moon, played by Ricky Whittle, and Mr Wednesday played by the legendary Ian McShane.

Unfortunately there isn’t a poster for Gillian Anderson, who will play shape shifting god Media. I cannot wait to see what iconic forms she will take in the show. Can the 30th April hurry up please!?

Check out the posters below. Will you be watching American Gods when it airs? Which god are you looking forward to seeing the most?

Justice League Teasers

Get ready guys – DC are releasing the first theatrical trailer for the upcoming Justice League movie later today. Who else is stoked? I’m probably one of the few people who prefer DC to Marvel, and even though Batman V Superman didn’t quite meet my expectations, I’m still super excited to see the whole team together in one movie.

To tide us over, Warner Bros have kindly offered up some teasers for each of the main characters. That includes Batman, Aquaman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, and Cyborg – there isn’t one for Superman as of yet.

Check them all out below, along with some character posters. Who are you looking forward to seeing the most?

Here we get a quick peak at Arthur Curry, aka. Aquaman – played by Jason Momoa. The teaser shows snippets of Aquaman facing waves, being handed the Trident of Neptune, and most excitedly, using the trident – which is a magical weapon that gives its wielder divine power over the sea. There’s also a rather dramatic shot of the whole team, minus Superman.

We already got quite familiar with Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne in Batman V Superman, so this teaser isn’t really showing us anything new. We do however get a quick look at the parademons – those flying human wasp things from BvS – as the Batmobile blasts them from the sky. It seems we’ll be finding out a little bit more about these creatures in Justice League.

Ezra Miller plays Barry Allen in this teaser. The best thing by far is getting to see The Flash show off his lightning bolt speed, but we also get a close up of his costume whilst he prepares for battle, and a glimpse of a casual looking Allen in his apartment. We got quite a good look at The Flash in Suicide Squad last year but it’s still nice to see more of him.

This was the longest teaser out of all of them. At first we see Diana Prince examining a massive statue, we then catch a glimpse of her entering a hanger holding a huge carrier – presumably the Flying Fox. In the third snippet, Gal Gadot is dressed in her Wonder Woman garb, and finally we see her protecting herself from some sort of blast with her cuffs. I cannot wait for the Wonder Woman movie.

I probably know least about Cyborg out of all the Justice League members, so this teaser has been the most exciting one for me. Ray Fisher plays Cyborg in this clip, where we get to see him before and after the accident that turns him into alter ego Cyborg – who looks incredible. Check out those arm cannons. He literally blasts a piece of falling building to smithereens.

Suicide Squad Posters

These were actually released quite some time ago, but just in case you haven’t seen them, I had to show you – because they’re super sexy. Seriously, are these not the coolest posters? No cliché landscape background, just a simple animated skull made to look like each character.

You don’t even need to read the label because each character is distinctive enough as is. Katana with her mask, Rick Flag with his cap.. I think Enchantress is my favourite, but I love the fact they’ve given Harley a heart and a diamond for her eyes. What did you think of them? I kind of want some for my house!

New Planet Discovered in our Solar System

Guys, how do you remember the planets!? I’ve always been partial to a little noodle action myself ‘My Very Excellent Mother Just Served Us Noodles’. It used to be Noodle Pudding – not that I even know what that means – but that was before Pluto became estranged from the Planet family. So long old friend!

Pluto must be sat there seething right now, because scientists might have just discovered a new sphere on the edge of our Solar System, and he’s getting bumped up to Planet status, which will mean we’ll have nine planets again!

The planet itself is larger than earth, about three times its size. Its gaseous structure makes it similar to Uranus and Neptune, but not quite as big. And it lies beyond Pluto, between 600 and 1200 times farther away from Earth.

There’s a surprisingly large amount of information about it considering it hasn’t actually been seen yet. You can find out more here because, well, the terminology’s a little too over my head to start explaining everything to you. I just want to sit here thinking about names. So far I’m feeling Severus, after the late Alan Rickman. Or Bowie. Bowie’s a good name. What would you want it to be called?

Black Panther has its Director

Marvel have announced that the upcoming Black Panther movie will be directed by Ryan Coogler, who recently came into spotlight with his movie; Creed – a Rocky Balboa spinoff/sequel. I haven’t seen the film yet, but have heard good things about Cooglers direction, which recently won Sylvester Stallone a Golden Globe.

The Panther himself is being played by Chadwick Boseman. He will make his on screen debut in the upcoming Captain America: Civil War, which hits cinema screen on 6th May later this year. Black Panther itself isn’t due for release until 16th February 2018. Are you guys excited to see the King of Wakanda on the big screen?
