Newt and Kowalski Reunite in Fantastic Beasts 2

The last time we saw Jacob Kowalski, he was happily running his own bakery in New York, with no memory of his new friend Newt Scamander, the adventures they had, or the entire magic realm – because Newt took his memories away remember. Scamander then boarded a ship back to London, never to see Kowalski again.

Or so we thought.

Total Film have just released the first photo from the upcoming second instalment of Fantastic Beasts – The Crimes of Grindelwald – showing Newt (Eddie Redmayne) and Kowalski (Dan Fogler) happily reunited, in Paris no less. Which poses the question – how will these two cross paths.. again.

Does Kowalski get his memories back? Has Newt lost another fantastic beast? Why are they in Paris. Too many questions for a Wednesday morning! Hopefully we’ll get a trailer soon, though Fantastic Beasts isn’t due for release until 16thNovember next year, so I guess not.

Geek Picks of the Week

Stranger Things T-Shirt | With just over 10 days to go until I can binge through Season 2 of Stranger Things, I’m currently in the process of mentally preparing myself for what I can only imagine will be some fucked up shit, that will no doubt blow my mind. I’m also physically preparing myself by eating ALL the eggos, and now I’ve found the perfect T-Shirt to wear whilst doing so. This Raglan is AMAZING. It features everything Stranger Things in tiny icon form. A bicycle, D20, X-Men Comic, and fairy lights are just a few of the things that stand out on this shirt. So cute. It’s like you’re getting a constant season 1 recap. I can’t wait to see what icons are used for the S2 shirt. Please make one. (Truffle Shuffle)

100 Movie Scratch Poster | If I was going to be honest, I’d say I spend about 60% of my life sleeping and 30% watching movies or TV shows. The other 10% should probably go on work, but I mean – 10 is being pretty optimistic. With that in mind, you’d be excused for thinking I’m a bit of a movie connoisseur, but that’s far from reality because I never seem to get over 50 on those ‘top 100 movies of all time’ lists, which drives me crazy. It’s genuinely my life goal to get 100 on one of those damn things, and this movie scratch map is going to help me do it. It looks awesome, and there are incentives – sort of. You get a colourful poster at the end of it. (Firebox)

Jane Eyre Bookmarks | Since it’s the 170 year anniversary of Jane Eyre today – if my math is correct, which it rarely is, but fingers crossed – I felt like one of my geeky picks had to be Charlotte Bronte related. Her book is one of my favourites, and always makes me feel like a literary goddess whenever I read it because it’s so damn old and yet I totally understand it – well, most of it. Anyway, these bookmarks, depicting little animated versions of Jane Eyre and Mr Rochester, are adorable and now I don’t think I could ever read the novel again without one of them to hold my place. It’s like having company while you read, but not, because they don’t distract you until you lose where you are so that you end up reading the same line over and over again and want to stab yourself in the eye. (Etsy)

Totoro Slippers | I have never said this to anyone before, but I’m really not that fussed about My Neighbour Totoro – please don’t stab me in the eye. I know I joked about it earlier, but  I really like my eyes.  Ghibli is basically worshipped by all anime fans, but I’ve never really understood the whole anime thing. I guess I just haven’t seen enough to make a proper judgement – though I did watch this weird show called Space Dandy a couple of months ago, and if I needed my faith to be restored in anything, that would have done it because it was mental and colourful and, did I mention mental. But yeah, Totoro – I don’t get you, but you sure are cute, and I love slippers, and I also love the idea of putting my feet into your belly. (Firebox)

Long Live the King | New Black Panther Trailer Is Here

‘I’ve seen men build weapons that I couldn’t even imagine. I’ve seen aliens drop from the sky. But I’ve never seen anything like this. How much more are you hiding’ – Evert Ross

Marvel have just released the latest trailer for their upcoming Black Panther movie, and it is obviously blowing everyone’s minds. It’s only been a few days since they dropped the New Mutants trailer – which astonished many a fan with how unlike Marvel it is – and it seems Black Panther is following suit. This is going to be a different type of superhero movie, that is for certain.

The trailer features tonnes of new clips from the upcoming film. We get a good look at the Wakandan space ships we merely glimpsed in the first trailer, as well as Wakanda itself, the high tech science facility, and the insane new Black Panther Suit. But it looks like T’Challa – played by Chadwick Boseman – isn’t the only person with a suit. Antagonist Erik Killomonger – played by the disgustingly handsome Michael B. Jordan – has a pair of claws of his own.

Now I’m not picking side’s or anything, but Killomoger is really rocking that Panther look.

The movie is set to premiere on 9th February 2018. Watch the trailer below.

First New Mutants Teaser Has Been Released And It’s Super Creepy

Marvel have just dropped a 2 minute teaser trailer for their latest X-Men venture – The New Mutants, and it’s not what you’d expect. This spin-off will be the eleventh film in the X-Men series, but focuses on a younger team of mutants and looks much darker than any of its predecessors.

The clip has a definite horror vibe going on, from its spooky location in a controlled facility, to the creepy rendition of Pink Floyd’s ‘Another Brick in the Wall’ playing in the background. It also features nameless gravestones, featureless masks and faces bursting out of sheet like walls – the perfect formula to get your heart racing.

Up to this point, very little has been revealed about what The New Mutants has in store for us, so the trailer gives us our first proper glimpse at the films storyline; A group of mutant teenagers, imprisoned in a hospital, trying to escape.

We also get a good look at the main characters; Dr Cecelia Reyes played by Alice Braga, the teleporting Magik played by Anya Taylor-Joy, a shapeshifting wolf called Wolfsbane played by  Maisie Williams, and flying Cannonball played by Charlie Heaton. They will be joined by Henry Zaga as Sunspot, and Blu Hunt as the illusion-wielding Mirage.

The movie, directed by Josh Boone, will be released on 13th April 2018.

Stunning New Images From Black Panther Released

MOTHERLAND_EW_Spread.40.fin.JPG

Prepare to be disgusted by your lumpy body and plain face because Entertainment Weekly has just released images of the exceptionally attractive cast behind Marvel’s upcoming Black Panther movie, due out in cinemas at the beginning of next year – 16th February.

The photo’s include shots of all the main cast, including some nice close ups of Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther, Forrest Whitaker as Zuri, and Michael B Jordan as Erik Kilmonger – who has some rather strange markings all over his body.

Can we just take a moment to gush over the Dora Milaje though. Beautiful strong women in stunning costumes – that scarlet beaded armour is just WOW – and I’m sat here in a onesie thinking about cake. Definitely not sure I’d qualify. I can’t wait to see more of these kick ass ladies.

New Jurassic World Poster | Life Finds a Way

There’s exactly one year to go until we get to watch the Jurassic World sequel in cinema’s, and thanks to a poster that appeared online yesterday, we now know what it will be called – Fallen Kingdom.

There is currently no news on what the movie will actually be about, and since they haven’t wrapped up filming yet, we can’t expect a trailer for a good few months, but Jeff Goldblum is back as Dr Ian Malcolm, after skipping the past two Jurassic park films, and this poster is making sure everyone knows about it by featuring his most iconic quote “Life finds a way” – except they missed out the ‘uh’, but I will forgive that for now.

Han Solo Loses its Directors Mid-Filming

wpanmgtofwvwpsmava1h

It wasn’t long ago that we were getting hyped up about the rumour of the new Star Wars spin-off’s name, and now we’re saying goodbye to its two directors; Phil Lord and Christopher Miller – creators of The Lego Movie, and directors of 21 Jump Street.

Lord and Miller have been filming the Han Solo, Star Wars prequel since early 2017, but with a few weeks of filming left to go, have announced that they will be leaving the project.

According to Lucasfilms’ president, Kathleen Kennedy, their departure was due to creative differences, which seems to happen a lot these days – Ant Man comes to mind. Here’s her official statement:

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are talented filmmakers who have assembled an incredible cast and crew, but it’s become clear that we had different creative visions on this film, and we’ve decided to part ways. A new director will be announced soon.

Lucasfilms have assured fans that the movie remains on schedule, with a May 2018 release date – though this will be slightly more convincing when a new director is found. I’m sure I’m not the only one who was hoping to see some sort of teaser in the upcoming months.

So who could take over director duties? Well, rumors are going around that Ron Howard may continue with Han Solo. He’s no stranger to epic space movies, with Apollo 13 under his belt. There’s also speculation that Lawrence Kasdan may direct. As co-writer of the Han Solo script, he’s definitely very familiar with the movie, but he’s not quite as renowned for his directing abilities.

Who do you think will make a good director for the Star Wars spin-off?

10 Gifts Every Deadpool Fan Needs in their Life

With Deadpool filming confirmed to be well on it’s way – thanks to Ryan Reynolds who tweeted a picture of the mercenary sun bathing outside the X-mansion earlier in the week – everyone is understandably getting excited about the sequel. I thought I’d share a few of my Deadpool must haves for the fan who can’t get enough of the Merc with the mouth.

1. Deadpool Piggy Bank – I am the worst at saving, like seriously – the complete worst, so I have absolutely no need for any money box ever, but if you need to store your pennies somewhere, why not in Deadpool – I’m certain he’d appreciate the extra cash. He is a mercenary after all.

2.  Deadpool Colouring Book – Adult colouring books are all the rage at the moment and you can’t get more adult than Deadpool. I personally own way more than any child should probably have, let alone adult, but this is a Deadpool colouring book man, its a must.

3. Deadpool Dress – Deadpool is no stranger to cross dressing, so I could totally see him rocking this little red number. It’s not the most conventional outfit, but it looks stretchy enough for back flips and copious amounts of stabbing, if you feel so inclined.

4. Deadpool Comic Poster – There are a ridiculous amount of posters out there in the online abyss, but this one is hands down my favourite. I just love the contrast between the black & white comic book background, and a red Deadpool standing cross armed in front.

5. Deadpool Bookends – I can’t say I’ve ever owned bookends because I’m a serial bookcase owner, but if I were going to own bookends, these would be a serious contender. Made of wood, I love the simplicity, and boldness.

6. Deadpool Leggings – I don’t think these need an explanation as to why they’re awesome and everyone must own them, even the guys. I have never seen anyone in Deadpool leggings, and feel that needs to change.

7. Deadpool Flair – There are not enough Deadpool pins in the world, and if you are one of the many who is yet to own one, make this the first in your collection because Mondo are pro’s at creating eye catching flair for your lapels, and this is no exception.

8. Adventure Time Watch – I knew I wanted this Adventure Time watch ever since seeing it on Deadpool’s wrist in the first movie, and now it’s actually available to buy – Just make sure no one else see’s it on your wrist, or your identity is blown, and Collosus will be after you.

9. Deadpool Pen Holder – Brutality is Deadpool’s game, and I’m not sure there’s anything more brutal than a severed head used as a push cushion for pens. Perfect for the desk of someone who needs a little help showing people who is boss.

10. Deadpool Tee – One for the pop culture mash-up fans out there – a Finding Nemo / Deadpool tshirt. Cute AND deadly, wearing this you might actually find yourself a Dory to help you with your quest – though we all know Deadpool works alone.

Solo: A Star Wars Story

Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side kid – Han Solo

Someone posted a picture of their crew shirt up on Reddit, and it’s possible they revealed the name of the upcoming Han Solo spin-off.

Granted, Solo isn’t all that inventive, but I really like the logo, replacing the L with Han’s iconic blaster.

Of course, this could just be a working title. The film’s official name is yet to be revealed, but with filming underway, i’d like to think they’ll release something soon.

Still, for now, it’s nice to get confirmation that something’s actually being filmed. This Han Solo spin-off has gone straight to the top of my most anticipated list, especially with Donald Glover confirmed as Lando.
