Life Lately #1

I thought I’d give you guys an insight into what I’ve been up to recently, and share all of the things that have made me happy over the last couple of weeks.

IGN invited me to a Game Preview Session in London where I got to play demos of loads of upcoming games such as Alien Isolation, and Assassin’s Creed Unity. The game I spent most time playing though was Sunset Overdrive. It is amazing; I can’t wait until it’s out.

Reel Big Fish are one of my all-time favourite bands, and probably the band I have seen live more than any others. They played the venue just up the road from my house, so my friend Emily and I went along for a major skanking session. You can’t see us very well, but we have smiles from ear to ear.

I finally got my hands on a Bombshell Variant cover. I adore Ant Lucia’s DC pin-up ladies, so when I found out DC were using his artwork for their July comic book covers, I excitably got my ass to the local comic store and reserved a copy of Harley Quinn. It finally arrived and is beautiful.

I also picked up copies of Big Trouble in Little China, Aphrodite IX /Cyberforce, Amazing Spider-Man, and Uncanny Avengers, as well as a load of Lush goodies.

Kristain Nair, the massive guy who plays Hodor in the Game of Thrones television series, did a DJ set at a local club in Portsmouth. I couldn’t resist getting a photo with him.

Haribo have started doing Minion sweets. They don’t taste amazing, but they look so cool, and are so much fun to play with before you end up eating them.

IMG_0837.JPG
I’ve had a slight Pokemon addiction recently – well, more so than usual. I started playing PokeMMO, which is an online version of Pokemon, and it reignited my love of the franchise.

IMG_0839.JPG
So I ended up continuing my Pokemon Card collection. I already have so many shinys.

IMG_0846.JPG
And I bought loads of new Pokemon Plugs from eBay.

One of my favourite comedians, Jim Jefferies, was performing at the O2 Academy in Brixton, so I had to go check him out. His live performance did not disappoint; I was in hysterics all the way through the set.

After about 7 years of service, I decided it was time for my HP Laptop to retire, so I ordered myself a lovely new Alienware laptop. It is absolutely beautiful, and is powerful enough for me to play any MMORPG game I want to – just have to decide where to start.

What have you guys been up to recently?

Pokemon Tarot Cards

20140730-081907-29947522.jpg

These Pokemon Tarot Cards created by Cokujyo Eikyu are beautiful. Presented in a gorgeous little box covered in Poke-glyphs and Pokemon alike, it holds the 22 cards nice and snug. The cards themselves are stunning. Professional, artistic and incredibly well made, this collectors box is a must have for Pokemon fans.

Each Tarot Card has an associated Pokemon – The World is Mew, and The Hermit is Mewtwo. The Lovers card is Pikachu. I can’t say I agree with all of his choices, but nevertheless, every card is beautiful. They are not currently available on Eikyu’s website, Pokebox, but if you want a pack, keep an eye out as they will no doubt go up eventually.

In the meantime, here are a few other sets that are just as beautiful and available now; Star Wars, Sailor Moon, and Legend of Zelda.

Wish List (25.07.14)

These are a few of the awesome products I intend on getting this week, either because I need them, or I am just insanely desperate for them – because they’re AWESOME. I guess you could say it’s more of a shopping list I suppose, and because they are items I will definitely be purchasing, they’re all relatively inexpensive.

Here’s my wish list for this week:

5. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

20140725-224725-82045030.jpg
I’ve read all seven Harry Potter book’s over and over, but somehow I’ve never actually gotten round to reading any of the other ‘side story’ books created by JK Rowling. Since finding out that Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will be turned into a movie, I decided it was about time I read it before seeing it on the screen. There’s a copy on Play.com for only £3.75 – I have to get it.

4. Paint Brushes

20140725-224758-82078852.jpg
Not my usual geeky product, I know, but I need some new paint brushes for a genuinely nerdy reason – Warhammer. My housemates are obsessed, and I seem to have been persuaded to give it a go, so now that I have my set of High Elves, I need to start painting, and decent brushes seem like a good place to start. Not wanting to spend too much, I found a set of 10 Royal & Langnickel Taklon Brushes on Amazon. They’ve been reduced down to £4.53, but they seem like a reparable brand. A good place to start I think.

3. Pokemon Card Tin

My boyfriend and I have just started re-collecting Pokemon Cards –Nostalgia overload! We’ve made it our mission to buy a couple of booster packs every time we see them, but my addiction needs something bigger, especially seen as we’re racing to see who can find the most shiny cards. I found these Limited Edition Collectors Tins in Argos for £12.99, and the best thing is you’re guaranteed a shiny EX card. Plus, I’ve got a £10 voucher to use up..

2. Rubiks Cube

20140725-224906-82146400.jpg
I picked up a Rubiks cube for the first time the other day, and it only took me 4 hours or so to solve – I’m not certain that’s massively impressive, but I’m incredibly proud of myself either way. I think I have some sort of Rubiks bug now however, because all I want to do is have another go and beat my time. The only problem is, I don’t actually own one, BUT Amazon has them on sale for £6.49 – Add to Basket.

1. Scott Pilgrim and Ramona Flowers Plugs

20140725-224936-82176868.jpg
Plugs are quite hard to come by down the high-street; I’ve only ever really been able to order them online. Still, I seem to wear the same boring black earrings every day – my collection is quite sparse. I figure it’s about time I bought myself some plugs that are a bit more out there, and what better design than one that will show off how much I adore Scott Pilgrim. These particular ones are $17.95 from Plain Jane Plugs. Both are Stainless steel, so they’ll last a long time, and they just look amazing.
